Master Data
Master data is where M3’s behaviour is decided
An item, a customer or an order type is more than a description. Its settings decide how orders allocate, release, ship and invoice. M3CloudSlam keeps that data under control, right, and safely in and out of M3.
- Item/warehouseAllocation method→Whether and how customer order lines get stock reserved
- CustomerCredit limit→Whether an order stops at entry or before release
- CustomerDelivery terms→How deliveries are built and shipped
- Order typeRelease settings→Whether deliveries go to the warehouse automatically
Real M3 fields; the knowledge graph knows, field by field, which decision each one makes.
Where to start
Not every master data field is equal
The knowledge graph sorts every field by what it does in M3. That tells you where quality and governance effort pays off.
M3 makes a decision on it: allocate or not, release automatically or not, stop the order or not. A wrong value changes what the process does.
Highest care: an owner, approval and a quality rule
Used as a default on new orders and lines, where it may decide again later. A change usually reaches new orders only; open orders keep the old value.
Care at the source, and know what is already copied
Names, texts and search keys. Important for people, but M3 behaves the same whatever the value.
Basic completeness
Four features, one cycle
Find it, fix it, keep it right
- 1Find what's wrong
Rules by dimension, findings per record and a weighted score per entity. The coverage view and AI suggestions show where rules are missing.
- 2Fix it safely
Export the table, correct it in Excel, and load it back: every row checked and compared, with a backup saved before anything is written.
- 3Keep it right
Every change detected field by field, signed off where it matters, changed only through M3CloudSlam where it is critical, and on record for the auditor.
“You don’t need a consultant for that anymore.”
A master data clean-up no longer has to be a project. Your own team finds what is wrong, fixes it safely, and keeps it under control.
Coming next Roadmap
Master data, linked to the processes it steers
Choose the processes you run, or plan to run at go-live, and see whether your master data is ready for them, with the records to fix.
Each quality rule shows which process step it protects, what goes wrong when it fails, and how often that process runs in your data.
Governance levels proposed from what each field steers, and the impact of a change shown on every proposal.
